Our research groups are developing new MR techniques to study the internal movement of the uterus and bowel. We are developing new methods to visualise and measure these movements.
We are focussing on the following organs in two projects:
Uterus (EARTHWORM-U)
The aim is to investigate the development and diagnosis of adenomyosis. Our focus is on the uterus. This allows us to investigate the connection between adenomyosis and changes in this movement. We are looking for study participants – both volunteers and patients with clinical symptoms of adenomyosis!
Bowel (EARTHWORM-B)
Our research groups are developing new MR techniques to study the bowel and surrounding tissue. In addition to techniques that show the anatomy of the anatomy of the bowel, we are also developing dynamic techniques that capture videos of the natural internal movement of the bowel. We are looking for study participants – both volunteers and patients with clinical symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease!
Study description:
The study participants will be examined with clinical MRI measurements and novel MR techniques. No contrast agent will be used. The participants – after providing informed consent – will be changed into MR compatible clothing and scanned on a clinical MR scanner. Frequent interaction with the study team will be maintained and the opportunity for a break will be given.
Basic criteria for participation:
Minimum age 18 years
No contra-indications to MRI (no pace-maker, implants)
